Employee Spotlight: Lisa Grentz

Growing Independent Eaters Lisa Grentz has worked as a Registered Dietitian for over 20 years. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Washington State University and completed her dietetic internship at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Over the ensuing 20+ years, Lisa has worked as a home infusion dietician specializing in pediatric tube feeding and weaning and consults for various feeding teams in Eastern Washington. Her expertise and passion lie in providing community-based nutrition services to infants and children. In 2020, Lisa completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Associated Disabilities (LEND) post-graduate training at the University of Washington. 

Lisa has been active in several Nutrition and Dietetic groups since the beginning of her career in 1996. She continues to be a member of several and has served in leadership roles within the nationally recognized Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group. Throughout her career, she has had many impressive achievements, one being a published author. On top of various published articles, Lisa has co-written three journal publications from her years of practice and expertise: Topics in Clinical Nutrition- 2002;17:60-70, 2002;17:49-59 and J Parenter Enteral Nutr. 2022;1-6. doi:10.1002/jpen.2394.

She has independently written two professional publications which may be familiar to our GIE audience: Purees, Dips, & Spreads: Recipes for Growing Independent Eaters and Blenderized Tube Feeding: A Resource Guide for Parents. She also co-wrote for the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group, Nutrition management of children with food allergies, 2014.    

Two of her most outstanding achievements are being the Washington State Dietetic Association Educational Award Winner, 2011, and Washington State Dietetic Association 2007 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year. 

We recognize what an incredible asset Lisa is to the GIE team. She has worked with us since 2016 and collaborates with our feeding team to provide guidance and support to families weaning their children from enteral nutrition support to oral eating, specifically through providing individualized diet analysis and nutrition education. She also uses her expertise to write blog posts to educate and support families undergoing the tube weaning journey.

Beyond her impressive career and serving our GIE team and families with excellence, Lisa enjoys cycling, cooking, and spending time with her husband and three boys.
