Growing Independent Eaters believes that children can wean from feeding tubes safely and most successfully in the comfort and safety of their homes, when parents and caregivers are empowered to be their child’s best therapist. As such, we are happy to offer Tube Weaning support in countries all around the world.

We take a multi-disciplinary approach to weaning, meaning that every family who works with us is supported by a clinical team that consists of a Feeding Therapist and a Registered Dietician, and a mental health team that consists of a Parent Coach and a Mental Health Counselor – all of whom are licensed appropriately in their fields. Together, we will write a personalized weaning plan for your child and then coach you, step-by-step, through implementing that plan.

Program options are below. They differ based on how much support a family would like as they wean.

We know firsthand how expensive care can be for medically complex kiddos. Our costs are low compared to similar programs, and we are happy to offer payment plans if splitting the cost into 4 monthly payments is helpful.

The Pre-Program Consultation is a required first step for weaning families. It includes the following:

1. A 1-hour intake conversation about your child’s medical history and feeding situation with one of our clinicians.

2. A review of your feeding videos and medical reports

During the above conversations, we can recommend a consult level for your family. The choice of consultation service is entirely up to you, and add-on services are available to round out any consultation plan at any time.

Our Intake Process is thorough in order to avoid completing any paid-for steps without the confidence that a child can wean successfully. However, if, once the Pre-Program Consultation is complete, we (you and our team together) decide the time is not quite right for a weaning consultation, we will provide you with recommendations on what to consider and work on before weaning. 

This consultation plan is offered to families who want the support of a team as they move through the weaning process. The Lite Wean Program includes:

1. A 1-hour “Wean Start” call with a member of your clinical team. 

2. An additional 1-hour session with a mental health social worker before the start of the wean to provide strategies to manage weaning anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

3. A personalized Wean Plan, complete with recommendations on What, When, and How to Offer, as well as a step-by-step reductions plan tailored to the needs of your child and family. 

4.  Five (5) hours of support and consultation to be shared across your team including Dietician, Parent Coach, and Feeding Therapist.

5. Access to our private members-only Facebook Group and an online Members area with additional resources, support, and access to education.

6. Access to optional increased support time. 

This consultation plan is offered to families who want the support of a team as they move through the weaning process. It is catered to families who are seeking extra support due to the deep stress of tube feeding and difficult medical journeys. The Moderate Wean Program includes:

1. A 1-hour “Wean Start” call with a member of your clinical team. 

2. A starting 1-hour session with a mental health social worker before the start of the wean to provide strategies to manage weaning anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

3. A second hour with a mental health social worker to support self-care and healing strategies while weaning.

4. A personalized Wean Plan, complete with recommendations on What, When, and How to Offer, as well as a step-by-step reductions plan tailored to the needs of your child and family. 

5. Eight (8) hours of support and consultation to be shared across your team including Dietician, Parent Coach, and Feeding Therapist.

6. Access to our private members-only Facebook Group and an online Members area with additional resources, support, and access to education.

7. Access to optional increased support time. 

This consultation plan is offered to families who want the support of a team as they move through the weaning process. It is catered to families who feel highly stressed or anxious, and who want to have a full team available to support them through every step of the weaning process. The Full Wean Program includes:

1. A 1-hour “Wean Start” call with a member of your clinical team. 

2. A starting1-hour session with a mental health social worker before the start of the wean to provide strategies to manage weaning anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

3. Two additional hours with a mental health social worker to support self-care and healing strategies while weaning.

4. A personalized Wean Plan, complete with recommendations on What, When, and How to Offer, as well as a step-by-step reductions plan tailored to the needs of your child and family. 

5. Twelve (12) hours of support and consultation to be shared across your team including Dietician, Parent Coach, and Feeding Therapist.

6. Access to our private members-only Facebook Group and an online Members area with additional resources, support, and access to education.

7. Access to optional increased support time.
